Academic

The Arnewood School recognises that children are not all equally able but that they are all of equal worth. The school stresses the importance of academic studies and will not accept from any child anything but that which is the best the child has to offer. Whilst creating courses of study which lead to examination success the school is always mindful of the need to develop self awareness, self discipline and a moral code. All students are set according to ability. The sets are reviewed regularly and children and their families are advised that they are set in order to meet their needs. OfSTED in their report of January 2013 noted, “The exceptional progress that students make in English and mathematics helps them to do well in other subjects. The curriculum meets the needs of students extremely well and contributes to their high achievement.” Our Key Stage 4 courses offer the chance to specialise ahead of post 16 study in the Sixth Form.
