The Arnewood School is thrilled to announce the outstanding results achieved by our students in the recent LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) examinations held in June 2024. A cohort of 15 students achieved 14 distinctions and one merit (with a mark of 78). Every single student produced notable results, with students, Maisie Wardle and Blossom Drummond scoring marks into the 90s. Mollie Gazzard received a distinction for Grade 8, the highest grade possible. Mollie has recently completed her A levels with Arnewood Sixth and is off to study Drama at the University of West London.
Lessons are offered by Artisan Theatre School, professional actors and directors and fully qualified LAMDA teachers. Artisan Theatre School provides Arnewood students with the opportunity to participate in extracurricular drama lessons and develop their communicational skills through the spoken word. Artisan Theatre School is continuing to provide lessons in Acting, Musical Theatre and Public Speaking for Arnewood students after school. Higher grade LAMDA qualifications carry UCAS points which can help with University Applications. If candidates achieve a good mark at Grade 8 it carries the same UCAS points as an A grade AS. A special thank you also has to be given to the local charity, Olivia Inspires for helping financially and enabling all students to participate.
Headteacher Jamie Anderson said, “I am blown away by these stunning results, 93% of students were awarded with the prestigious Distinction, the highest grade available. These results genuinely reflect our students’ dedication, talent and the incredible mentorship provided by our drama department.”
Expressive Arts at the Arnewood School has always been highly regarded and continues to go from strength to strength under the leadership of the current head of department, Kirsten Watson. Mrs Watson said, “These results are astounding. I couldn’t be prouder of the hard work and perseverance of our students. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to witnessing their continued success in the world of drama and beyond.”
Congratulations to all our LAMDA students for their remarkable achievements!
