A Pocketful of Dreams in New York
Arnewood Drama took a group of students on a residential trip to New York from Monday 1st April to Saturday 6th April 2024.  Staying in midtown, right next to Times Square, students had the opportunity to explore some of New York’s most exciting landmarks and points of interest. Students took a cruise to Ellis and Liberty Islands to visit The Statue of Liberty. Other activities on the trip included, visiting the Empire State building, taking in the incredible views from the Rockefeller Centre, a walking tour of New York, the Museum of Modern Art, a backstage tour of Madison Square Gardens, , the 9/11 Museum and Memorial, a basketball game (Go Nets), as well as going to see a Broadway show. Evening meals took place in some iconic venues, The Hard Rock Café, Planet Hollywood, Bubba Gump and Ellen’s Stardust Diner.
The trip was organised by Head of Expressive Arts, Mrs Watson and was open to students from Year 11 and Sixth Form.
Mrs Watson said “I want to thank every single student that came on the New York trip, you all made it so much fun, and it was honestly a joy to be in your company for the week. The air stewards, the walking tour guides, the Madison Square Garden guides all found members of staff on the trip to say how respectful, polite and courteous students we had, and I couldn’t agree more. It has been a privilege to explore New York with you, I hope you have memories for a lifetime.”
Special thanks to Charlie Burroughs for sharing some of his incredible photographs of New York!
