At 8pm on Friday 27th January, staff, students and parents from The Arnewood School will #LightTheDarkness by lighting a candle to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day.
Each year group attended special assemblies last week focused on this year’s theme of “Ordinary People”. This focused on how ordinary people were victims, perpetrators, bystanders and rescuers during the Holocaust and included “Erika’s Story”. A number of students have been visiting our school library to find out more about her story over the past week.
GCSE history students, Freyja Gaylard and Josh Ferris joined headteacher, Mr Anderson to light the Holocaust Memorial candle. By lighting a candle, The Arnewood School remembers all those who perished as well as recognised our role in ensuring that nothing like the Holocaust ever happens again.
