Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing
There are 7 mandatory units consisting of theory and practical work these will cover anatomy and physiology
- style and finish hair
- set and dress hair
- cut hair using basic techniques
- colour and lighten hair
- advise and consult with clients
- shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
- develop and maintain your effectiveness at work
Examination arrangements
Includes 5 external exam papers. 4 -6 internal observations and a portfolio of evidence.
Careers/Progression
This course enables the student to become a State Registered Graduate Hairdresser with The Hair Council. As a Junior stylist/hairdresser learners could progress directly into employment in a variety of contexts, which include:-
- Commercial hairdressing salon
- Independent / self-employed / mobile / home based settings
- Product manufacturing and training, television, film, theatre and media
- Armed services
- Cruise liners
- Hospital / Care homes
Whilst the primary purpose of this qualification is to prepare learners for employment, learners may choose to develop their knowledge and skills further by completing an advanced apprenticeship or Level 3
