French KS3

In Years 7 to 11, in addition to textbooks, we use digital online courses, namely Studio at KS3 and Kerboodle at KS4. Students have access to these resources through the www.pearsonactivelearn.com and the www.kerboodle.com websites. These can be used both to reinforce and to extend vocabulary and grammatical knowledge. Other materials to support and extend their learning are available on the departmental firefly pages.

Aims:
  • To promote an interest in and encourage active engagement in learning French.
  • To develop cultural awareness of France as well as other French speaking countries.
  • To enable students to understand and respond to spoken and written language from a variety of sources and discover and develop an appreciation of a range of writing in French.
  • To enable students to speak with increasing confidence, fluency and spontaneity, finding ways of communicating what they want to say, including through discussion and asking questions, and continually improving the accuracy of their pronunciation and intonation.
  • To enable students to write at varying length, for different purposes and audiences, using the variety of grammatical structures that they have learnt.
