Aims
- To promote an interest in and encourage active engagement in learning ICT.
- To develop social awareness of issues that arise in ICT.
- To enable students to understand a variety of ICT software and discover and develop an appreciationof a range of ICT skills.
- To enable students to work independently with increasing confidence by the use of help sheets, userguides and video tutorials.
- To enable students to experience the different strands of ICT that they will be able to choose topursue through key stage 4 and 5.

ICT Strands Covered at KS3
- Office software packages such as Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel
- Computer Science software packages such as Scratch and Kodu as well as languages such as Visual Basic and HTML. There is also a unit design around the Microbit
- Creative software units include animation, audio file creation and manipulation, building websitesand creating movies (using iPads or PCs)
Key assessment details
Students will be assessed regularly at the end of each unit of study and ongoing assessment during lessons as well as through homework tasks. There is also a general ICT competency test each year which the students complete online under exam conditions.
