Home school agreement

At Arnewood, everything we do is built around three values: Ambition, Success and Together. This agreement reflects those values - setting out what we each commit to so that every student can thrive. It is signed by the student and a parent or carer at the start of each academic year.

The School - We will:

Together

• Provide a calm, safe, stimulating and caring learning environment
• Have a positive approach, building strong relationships with students and their families
• Value each individual with whom we work
• Keep parents/carers informed about school life and provide opportunities to be involved

Ambition

• Expect the highest standards of behaviour and effort from every student
• Provide the highest quality teaching and a broad, balanced curriculum to meet individual needs
• Regularly set, mark and monitor home learning for all students

Success

• Praise and reward every student
• Encourage students to develop self-discipline and a positive self-image
• Contact parents/carers to discuss and resolve any concerns about attendance or progress
• Provide opportunities for parents/carers to discuss their child's progress at parents' evenings

The Student - I will:

Together

• Treat everyone in the school community with kindness and respect
• Talk to my parents/carers about my successes at school and let them know about any concerns
• Respect the school environment and the property of others
• Use digital technology and the internet safely and responsibly

Ambition

• Attend school every day unless I am too ill, always aiming for 100% attendance
• Be punctual to registration and all lessons
• Bring the correct equipment every day and be prepared and organised
• Participate in extra-curricular activities and the wider life of the school

Success

• Take responsibility for my own learning and do my schoolwork and home learning to the best of my ability
• Listen to members of staff and follow their instructions
• Behave well in school and on my way to and from school, upholding Arnewood's values at all times
• Dress smartly and appropriately at all times

Parents/Carers - I/we will:

Together

• Listen to and work with the school
• Be courteous and respectful to staff at all times
• Encourage my child to respect others and be tolerant of differences
• Inform the school of any changes in circumstances that may affect my child
• Update the school when essential contact information changes

Ambition

• Ensure my child attends school every day and is punctual, always aiming for 100% attendance
• Contact the school promptly on any day of absence
• Ensure my child is correctly equipped for school every day
• Take all holidays during school holiday times and not during term time

Success

• Support my child with home learning, providing a quiet and calm environment to study
• Read and actively support the school's policies on behaviour and uniform
• Attend parents' evenings and curriculum support evenings
• Encourage my child to participate in extra-curricular activities
• Be an active partner in my child's behavioural and emotional development
