A Warm Welcome

The Arnewood School warmly welcomed children and their families from community link schools and slightly further afield to Open Evening on Thursday 5th October. Teachers and students gave up their free time to share the Arnewood experience with visitors across all the departments.

The evening started with a welcome presentation from Headteacher, Mr Anderson and then students were on hand to provided guided tours to visitors.

The Drama and Music Departments featured rehearsals of the upcoming production “Our House” as well as engaging visitors with games of devising, trying a musical instrument, cane journeys and garage band.

The P.E. Department set up table tennis, and badminton in the gym and football and netball on the Astro, encouraging visitors or all ages to get involved and have a go.

The Science Department was as popular as ever demonstrating lasers, pH – acids and alkalis, a static station, microscopes looking at cells and a brain teaser mirror drawing challenge. The Maths Department featured a Maths Murder Mystery & Sparx.

The English department took up residence in the library and presented creative activities around product tasting and advertising campaigning. PHSE gave taster lessons in First Aid with CPR dolls. The Modern Foreign Languages Department hosted a French and German cafe, bingo, and a passport station.

Textiles were making stamped bookmarks. Talented students from Food Technology made flapjacks and apple crumble tasters. The Art Department created Monsters and a huge communal drawing.

The fantastic canteen staff served hundreds of delicious tasting pots of Mauritian Curry and Bolognaise throughout the evening.

Thank you to everyone who came to the Open Evening and supported The Arnewood School.
