Careers Advice, Information and Guidance

To be able to get access to independent and impartial Careers Advice at the right time is vitally important and The Arnewood School is committed to ensuring that all students have this opportunity.

Careers Guidance can:
  • Inspire students by identifying a careers direction to work towards.
  • Can motivate students to gain the grades they need for their chosen careers or plan the steps that they need in order to achieve their aims.
  • Can engage students in their studies by demonstrating how subjects at school related to employability skills and future opportunities.

 

Careers Education and Guidance is featured throughout the school experience with guest speakers, visits, cross curricular themes, life skills sessions and year group projects. Direct opportunities are:

Work shadowing in Year 8,

Support for Subject Choices and Life Skills in Years 7, 8 and Year 9,

Work Experience in Year 10,

Taster Day for Year 11,

Post 16 Option talks & Sixth Form Information Evenings.

And a well stocked Career Library (within the main school library).

Students are also able to make use of Kudos in order to assist their career choices.   

This is a computer Aided Guidance Programme that The Arnewood School purchases from an independent company who specialise in the provision of high quality careers guidance resources. Kudos helps to generate careers ideas and is useful in Year 9 for checking subject requirements, Year 10 for identifying potential work experience ideas and Years 11, 12 and, 13 for careers information and forward planning.

To register you will need to enter the Schools license code which may be obtained from the following: Main school reception, School Librarian or Careers Adviser.

All students are welcome to book a careers appointment with the schools Careers Adviser for an impartial one to one session and parents are welcome to attend. Please contact the school’s main reception for details.
